Allan - offer of a dew heater,

You are welcome to have the first prototype I made using the wire from an electric fire which I just keep as a spare - it works fine but wouldn't win any prizes for construction or looks. I have tried it on the Megrez 72FD and it works fine running continuously for 45mins. To be honest it does run a little warm when run from a 13.8V supply taking 1.4A @ 12.8V (cable losses amount for the 1V drop). I wouldn't worry about it on mine, but I can appreciate a bit of apprehension. I would suggest that you either operate a scheme of 3mins on 5mins off, or see if Julian will let you have (or make you up a cable with one in) one of his 4.7ohm 25W resistors to put in series with the cable to run it continuously. Anyway the offers there, it beats messing with a hairdryer, it works and its free. It is fitted with a standard power jack socket (2.5mm) so you should be able to rig something up quite readily - it eliminates cables during storage - Maplins do the reciprocal power plut if you haven't got one.

I don't have your contact details to contact you direct and I wouldn't have a problem dropping it round. I have also made a couple of other mods to my Megrez (all reversible) which you may be interested in.
