Hi Doug thanks for the coment and for the settings you are spot on.I am still very much a beginner though I love been out in the night sky. at the moment I dont have any transport to get out anywhere my wife has a car but its only small and I cannot get my telescoope in!.
Hopefuly I will learn from yourself and other members to improve my photos.

Well done - you can just make out the Orion Nebula. Shame about the light pollution, but that will diminish as Orion gets higher. That must have been quite late on. It'd be useful if you could record and publish the camera settings etc. I am assuming that it's an 18-55 zoom on a fixed tripod with a 30sec exposure, ISO 800?
