Mirror Cell
Novel design adjusted with 4 (not 3) adjusting screws the cell being pivotted on a ball bearing. Mirror took over 12 months from start to finish - but the results were impressive. The society aims to create mirrors of better than lamba/8 surface aboration.

Small correction. The cell has only 2 adjustments, unlike the more common 3. Each adjuster is balanced against a spring and the centre of the cell is located on a ball bearing. This provides true orthogonal (90 degrees) adjustment and the focal distance is fixed. When all 3 adjusters is springloaded, the whole mirror can creep up or down as adjustments are made. Not with this design.
